
Due to inclement weather, the District Advisory Council meeting scheduled for September 26th at 6:00 PM has been canceled. We hope everyone stays safe during the storm.

Due to Hurricane Helene, Okeechobee County Schools will be closed Thursday, September 26th. This decision was made following the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center, and in consultation with the Okeechobee County Emergency Operations Center. Today, all elementary schools will operate as usual until 6:00 PM when Aftercare services end, and all middle and high school campus activities will end at 5:00 PM. All athletic and extracurricular activities scheduled to take place this evening, and at any point tomorrow, have been canceled.
Please continue to monitor the OCSB app for the latest updates. We will release additional updates, including information related to schools reopening after the storm, as soon as information is available. In the meantime, please stay safe during the storm.
Debido al huracán Helene, las escuelas del condado de Okeechobee estarán cerradas el jueves 26 de septiembre. Esta decisión se tomó siguiendo el último aviso del Centro Nacional de Huracanes y en consulta con el Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia del Condado de Okeechobee. The Okeechobee County School Board is closely monitoring developments with Tropical Storm Helene, along with the Okeechobee County Emergency Operations Center. Based on the current forecast, schools will be open on Wednesday, September 25th. However, after-school activities may be impacted based on expected weather conditions in the evening. Decisions regarding the remainder of the week will be made as the forecast becomes more defined.

Applications are open for Florida’s FREE literacy program, New Worlds Reading! New
Worlds Reading mails free books and reading activities to Florida VPK students who are
not yet meeting age-appropriate standards according to FAST Star Early Literacy and K-5
students who are not yet reading on grade level in public and charter schools. Books are
selected in collaboration with the Florida Department of Education, and are available in
English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and braille.
