It's Natonal School Counseling Week. The theme of this year’s week is “School Counseling: Helping Students Thrive.”
Thriving means growing, succeeding and feelingfulfilled in all areas of your life, our school counselor, want to help our students achieve that.
• For example, thriving academically means setting goals, staying motivated and finding joy in learning.
• Thriving emotionally means feeling balanced, resilient and supported. If you’re feeling stressed or anxious, school counselors here to listen and help navigate your feelings.
• Thriving in your future means understanding your strengths and passions. School counselors can help you explore different careers and plan for a future that excites you.

This week's Spotlight on Education brings us to Osceola Middle School and Math Teacher- Mr. Turner!
🍎Mr. Turner said his teaching philosophy is "Step #1 is always building a solid relationship with students and creating an environment where students are eager and excited to learn. Once those foundational building blocks are set, the teaching becomes much more effective and efficient. I love to give students multiple opportunities and mediums to learn, whether it be through direct instruction, group work, or exploratory/hands-on activities."
🙌🙌He also said "I wouldn’t be where I am without my team! In my two years at OCSB, I have been supported by so many incredible people including my Math PLT (Professional Learning Team), 8th Grade Team, and the OMS Administration Team. There has never been a time where I have felt like I had to tackle a problem alone or didn’t have anyone to turn to. Thank you so much to my team for all you do!"

This week's employee spotlight takes us to Yearling Middle School to highlight Mrs. Bennett, the school secreatry!
🙌🙌Mrs. Bennett said that it's important to her that she can relate to the students at YMS "You build connections, YES WITH TEENAGERS! I make sure to always be welcoming and kind to every student who walks through our door. You never know if you are the only kind face the student gets to see"
💜Mrs. Bennett's advice to anyone new to working at the school district is "Come in with your heart open! Our kids are so full of love and light, be prepared to hand your heart over to the students. I never pictured myself loving five hundred plus kids with my whole heart, but here we are."

Your school app is getting an update to make staying connected and informed even easier!

⭐🌟This week's Employee Spotlight is on Hilda Morse from the Okeechobee Freshman Campus.
⭐Hilda is the Data Processor but began her career as a Substitute Teacher at Yearling Middle School.
🌟Hilda graduated from OHS in 1975 and 50 years later she is working for the same district that educated her, how amazing is that?
Hilda said "We are here for the students and if that doesn't motivate a person nothing will. They depend on us daily. I have been trying to retire for 3 years now and just have not been able to turn in that letter of resignation. It will be hard when I do because I just can't imagine not getting up every morning and coming to school."
Thank you for your many years of service Ms. Hilda! ❤
