We know our youngest Panthers were excited, and we are very disappointed, too. Unfortunately, the rain has left the fields too wet and muddy for students to safely participate.
Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your continued support. 🐾
🌧️ Field Day Update – A Little Rain Never Hurt a Panther! 🐾
Okay… which one of you ordered the rain for Field Day?
Unfortunately, we had to cut Field Day short for our 4th and 5th grade students due to the rain. The good news is that everyone is safe and students were having a great time before the weather rolled in!
Yes… students did get a little wet while enjoying the activities prior to going inside If parents would like to bring a change of dry clothes for their child, you are more than welcome to do so.
We are watching the radar closely and will make a decision about Kindergarten & 1st Grade Field Day closer to 12:00 PM today.
Thank you for your flexibility as we work around the Florida weather! ☔
Stay tuned for updates!
Our staff followed established safety procedures, and the situation was quickly resolved. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, and we appreciate the cooperation of everyone involved.
All students and staff are safe, and normal activities have resumed. Thank you for your continued support of Central Elementary.
Thank you to our staff who have served families for one year at Central Elementary School!

As we prepare our display for the Okeechobee County Fair, we want to celebrate the incredible history of Central Elementary — and we need your help!
Do you have old pictures, yearbooks, newspaper clippings, class photos, memorabilia, or special artifacts from your years at Central? We would love to include them in our fair display to showcase the memories, milestones, and Panther Pride through the years.
Please email photos (or pictures of artifacts) to:

If you have physical items you’d like to share, send me a message and we can coordinate. All items will be handled with care.
Let’s show the community what makes Central so special — past and present. Thank you for helping us celebrate our story! 🐾

This is a reminder that tomorrow (2/13/2026) is an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 AM.
Please make the necessary arrangements for your child’s pick-up.
Thank you for your continued support! 💙🐾
Our Lost & Found is overflowing with jackets and sweaters waiting to be reunited with their owners!
If your child is missing a jacket or sweater, please stop by Central Elementary to check for it, or have your child visit the front office to take a look.
Let’s help these cozy items find their way home! 🏠💙

Once a Panther, always a Panther. Congratulations Mr. Hickman and NES!

We are excited to welcome Mr. Tommy Purvis to Central Elementary School.

Okeechobee County Schools is announcing a series of campus transitions that will take effect beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. These changes are designed to better serve students at every grade level, align programs with the right facilities, and maximize the benefits of recent and upcoming capital investments across the district.
With the completion of the new Okeechobee High School campus, the school will expand to serve students in grades 9–12 full-time. Ninth-grade students will attend school at the new high school campus. This transition provides students with a more cohesive high school experience and expanded access to programs and opportunities.
As part of these changes, secondary students currently enrolled at Okeechobee Achievement Academy will relocate to the former Freshman Campus building. Elementary students participating in the IBP program will transition to Seminole Elementary School. These moves allow academic programs to be better aligned with facilities designed to support student needs and focused services.
In addition, the district will open a new Early Learning Center dedicated exclusively to VPK students. Having VPK as the only students on this campus allows for a safe, welcoming, and age-appropriate environment focused on early childhood development, early literacy, and kindergarten readiness.
To support these transitions, capital improvement projects will take place at the newly configured Okeechobee Achievement Academy and the future Early Learning Center. These improvements will focus on refreshing facilities, enhancing learning spaces, and ensuring students and families are welcomed into modern, engaging environments. The district will also work closely with families to support student transportation needs wherever possible.
These campus transitions reflect a thoughtful, long-term approach to serving students at every stage of their educational journey. Additional details, timelines, and family communications will be shared as planning continues.
💜Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to support student success across Okeechobee County Schools.
